A Brief History
Brown’s Furniture was founded in 1949 by Charlie and Eleanor Brown, when they purchased the Browning Furniture Company in downtown Palmyra, Missouri. Brown’s continued in it’s original downtown location until 1969, when the present showroom was built on Highway 61 at the East edge of Palmyra. Since then, additional buildings have been constructed and factory sponsored ‘galleries’ added making Brown’s Furniture in Palmyra the largest furniture operation in Northeast Missouri, West Central Illinois, and Southeast Iowa (the Tri-State area). In addition to the Midwest’s first Broyhill Showcase Gallery (1982) and a Serta Sleep Center Gallery, Brown’s Furniture in Palmyra recently added a new La-Z-Boy Comfort Studio to their showroom.
In 1958, Brown’s Furniture opened a branch store in downtown Shelbina, Missouri and in 1986, Brown’s Furniture added a full service store in Blue Springs, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City.
Charles (Brownie) and Jim Brown (Charlie and Eleanor’s sons) now own all three stores. They have continued to expand their existing locations to offer more furniture for the growing regional demand. Brown's Furniture Ads La-Z-Boy Comfort Studio
Palmyra, MO - Brown's Furniture unveiled its new 6,000 square-foot La-Z-Boy Comfort Studio last Wednesday at the store in Palmyra. A La-Z-Boy official as well as family and employees were on hand to witness the ceremonial ribbon cutting, officially opening the showroom. "We invite the people of the area to visit our showroom and see the new Comfort Studio," said Brownie Brown "Our entire staff (warehouse, sales, and office) have done a great job in setting up our new displays." Brown said the new addition expands the store's La-Z-Boy merchandise.
"We have received lots of new merchandise including the famous La-Z-Boy recliners, motion sofas, and accessories and it's all on display now," Brown said. "In addition, we have re-merchandised the remaining showroom with new displays and products. "Also, La-Z-Boy has always stood for quality and we are proud to have been selected to be the Comfort Studio for the Tri-State area. We now have a wider selection in stock and we are better prepared to offer our customers custom made furniture utilizing La-Z-Boy's wide selection of styles and fabrics."Customers who visit the new showroom, have a chance to win prizes to be given away. "As part of our Grand Opening, we will be giving away 20 $100 Gift Certificates to be used on anything in our store, so we hope everyone will come in and register," Brown said.
